CTO René Dencker celebrating 20 years of Scape Technologies, robot conducting pick and place tasks

On the 1st of February, we celebrated 20 years of pioneering achievements in the robotic automation industry. Founded by Professor Ivar Balslev and Ph.D. René Dencker, Scape Technologies has evolved from a visionary concept into a leading provider of bin-picking solutions.

Our journey began with a simple, yet ambitious, goal: to revolutionize manufacturing areas with reliable, cost-effective automation solutions. Through rigorous research and dedication, conducted by Ph.D. René Dencker under the supervision of Professor Ivar Balslev, the SCAPE algorithm was born at the University of Southern Denmark. This innovative core technology propelled the SCAPE Bin-Picker solution to industry leadership, setting new standards for the precise and efficient handling of randomly placed parts. As a result of the Ph.D. project, René Dencker and Professor Ivar Balslev founded what is today known as Scape Technologies.

As the most experienced supplier in this challenging field, Scape has established itself as the world market leader in Bin-Picking. Our success is driven by a consistent commitment to innovation, a deep understanding of our customers' needs, and the ability to adapt our standardized solutions to meet those specific requirements. With more than 150 SCAPE Bin-Picking solutions implemented across Europe and beyond, our impact is visible in production environments worldwide.

As we celebrate this 20-year milestone, we extend our deepest gratitude to our CTO and co-founder, René Dencker, our dedicated team, and our partners worldwide. Together, we look forward to continuing our mission of solving well-known challenges in production environments and shaping the future of bin-picking automation.
